Blogging, the glorified old lady’s journal.
Diaries. Journals. Chances are, you had one. If you’re a blogger, the chances are probably greater since (in my opinion) blogging is basically a glorified version of journaling. That thought got me thinking about my childhood diary.

I have kept one since I was about 7 years old up until right before I got married. That’s about 16 years of blackmail gold right there. Luckily, I have kept them hidden. And also, lucky for you, I pulled one out the other day. I couldn’t NOT share what I stumbled upon. So, without further ado, an actual word-for-word entry from one of my journals.
Names have been changed to protect the innocent.
“Dear Journal,
Hey, it’s me again. My first full day of being a teenager, it’s great! Dance was tonight, that’s why I’m writing this so late. Herbert talked to me today. He asked if I liked the kid that hugged me at the dance, but I said I didn’t know because I wanted to know if Beauford liked me. I have to ask Herbert tomorrow about it. Ya know what? Shaniqua said that I should go out with Walter! He’s the kid that I made Shaniqua dance with. They’re going out but she said that every time he calls her, he wants to know how I’m doing. Gross, huh?! I can’t wait until Sunday because that’s when me, mom and my aunt are going to have a stamping party! It’s getting late and my hand hurts so I’m going to bed!”
And, I kid you not, I signed off with both my first and last name.
So there you have it. A glimpse inside my boy-crazy 13 year old head. Pretty typical. And I’ve gotta throw this out there… I would love to know if you had a journal back in the day and what you used to write about.
Wooosh , just reminded me of my “teens secrets” by it . I kept a few secret journals and they're still hidden 😀

Totally had a diary back in the day. It was pink with a big old teddy bear on the front. It had a lock and keys, too. God, I had forgotten about that until reading your post this morning. I am not even sure what I did with it, so total blackmail worthy for someone if they did happen to stumble upon it now!!
Oh how I'd love to get my hands on some of my old diaries. I'm sure I'd laugh my head off.
I love how you signed your full name. Kids are so full of themselves! LOL

Oh, those rockin' stamp parties!
Ha! That's amazing. I totally wish I still had mine. I was very on and off with my journals but I definitely wish I could reread all the craziness I talked about
I had a journal and would write mmmmmmmmmm maybe 5 entries and then get bored with it. I didn't care for journals LOL
I started so many journals, always with good intentions, but never got past the first few pages. Same with scrapbooking… I managed a few completed albums and now I have heaps of supplies I rarely use. I'm a wanna-be journal keeper! My blog is the only thing I've actually kept up, probably because people read it and that makes me accountable, lol.
Thanks for the glimpse into your 13 yr old head… funny stuff that I think we can all relate too!

lol, I love it! I used to sign my full name too, and also I would start the same as you did, “hey, It's me again” like duh you moron, of course it's you, who the heck else would it be? and oh yeah, i'm an inanimate object, So i literally could not care less. lol
It's amazing to visit this web site and reading the views of all friends on the topic of this post, while I am also keen of getting familiarity.

Haha, I love the journal entry! I think I stopped writing in mine around 6th grade and I'm regretting that you. That's so funny stuff to look back on ha!
Ahahaha that's exactly what I was thinking upon re-reading my entries! I talked to my diary like it was my best friend. Sad. lol
It's fun, I highly suggest it 🙂
Heck yes.
My first diary was a Lisa Frank diary with ballet slippers on the front. Sadly I couldn't find it (I'm sure it's just in another box in our crawl space) but those entries were pretty much just boring every day activities: Dear Diary, today I did this, and then I did this…
I had a diary or two but never kept up with them. So I ended up tearing out my entries and shredding them to pieces. I have a journal beside my bed right now that I have only wrote in a few times. I mainly use it to just get all of the thoughts bouncing around in my head out so I can sleep.
