Craft organization solutions with Mod Podge Sheer Colors

I would like to give Plaid a HUGE thank you for motivating me by sponsoring this craft supply organization post!

Being the craft supply hoarder that I am, my collection has gotten a little out of control. And by little I mean disgustingly out of control. Thank goodness for the new product by Mod Podge to give me the kick in the pants I needed to tame this mess…

Ugh. How does my husband put up with me? He’s a saint.

In my attempts to try and make some sort of sense out of this craziness, I came across a set of plastic drawers that I was no longer using. It used to hold all of my makeup and hair products back when I was single and living in my own one bedroom apartment with zero storage space. This was the perfect excuse to put it back to good use.

Supplies:

  • plastic drawers
  • Mod Podge Sheer Colors (available at Michaels or on Plaid’s website)
  • foam brushes
  • optional: clear labels and permanent marker

Start by making sure your drawers are squeaky clean. Mine were in desperate need of a scrub down. Let them dry thoroughly.

Using your Mod Podge Sheer Colors and a foam brush, give the inside of your drawer a thick but even coat. If you’re unsure of how Mod Podge Sheer Colors work, this video tutorial does a great job of explaining them.

This is my second coat of Mod Podge Sheer Color before drying. Depending on how dark you want the color to look, work patiently applying one coat at a time (and letting dry totally between) until you get your desired result.

Repeat this step with each drawer in whatever colors you should choose. I decided to give each skinny drawer their own color and then leave the biggest drawer on the bottom plain.

Give your supply an assessment and decide what you should label your drawers. I used a few clear labels that I had lying around and used a permanent marker to label them. This way, I figure, if my needs should change in the future, it would be no big deal to slap a new label on the drawers.

Look at how clean and neat those gorgeous crafting supplies look 🙂 Feels good to put something I was about to donate back to use.
