DIY Sidewalk Chalk Paint
I participated in a Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for OshKosh B’Gosh. I received an OshKosh B’Gosh gift card to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
We unknowingly started a Mother’s Day tradition last year: sidewalk chalk painting. It was so much fun filling the entire driveway with our colorful creations. We had used a store-bought kit last year, but I had a sneaking suspicion that it could be made at home (and that someone had probably already tried it). So I decided that we would give it a go during a sunny and relaxing Mother’s Day weekend at home a few weeks ago.
It was so easy to make, I don’t know why I didn’t think of it myself! All you need are 3 simple ingredients…
DIY Sidewalk Chalk Paint
- corn starch
- water
- food coloring
I mixed 1 tablespoon of water, 1 tablespoon of corn starch, and enough food coloring for bright, vibrant colors. I used gel food coloring, but I’m sure the regular liquid variety would work just as well.
The paints were just as awesome as the store-bought kind. I’m thinking I’ll be making a lot more sidewalk chalk paint throughout the summer, for sure. Speaking of summer, I can’t believe it’s practically here. The green grass has returned, the sun is shining, and Bean is graduating from her first year of preschool!
I can’t believe how grown up my little Bean is. Look at how cute she is in her red, white, and blue OshKosh B’Gosh sundress and sandals. I love sundresses on little girls, and OshKosh B’Gosh had so many adorable and trendy ones to choose from! And I can’t wait to get out on the lake so that Bean can wear her new red, white, and blue swimsuit I picked up for her. It’s to die for cute. Cheers to summer fun!

We use a similar recipe for bathtub paints–I don't know why I've never thought to use them outside! Genius. 🙂
What a great idea! I'll definitely be trying this with my nieces!
Ah, bath tub paint! That would be a great idea as well!
It's fun for kids and adults alike 🙂 Remember to use plenty of food coloring for bright, vibrant colors!
