Goodbye, Summer 2016
Dear Summer 2016,
You were pretty awesome. And I really mean that!
<
We (I) started the summer off with the longest road trip of my LIFE. It taught me a lot.
1. I do not like road trips longer than 8 hours
2. Ohio is nothing to write home about (sorry if you’re a native Ohio-an, I feel bad for you)
3. I have the most patient daughter and nephew ever
4. I will spare no expense to avoid another 12 to 14 hour long road trip
Because both myself and Bean are water fanatics, and because we now live only 5 minutes from Grandma and Grandpa, many summer days were spent in the pool.
I taught dance in the mornings a few days a week, but you betcha we were in that pool the minute I got done teaching. The weather this summer was practically perfect.
We made an effort to get up to the cabin as much as possible and get out on Gilly.
It was a rare weekend that we stayed home and did nothing. With how short summers are, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
We also got to take Bean to her first trip to ValleyFair!
My husband and I might be pushing it as far as our tolerance for spinny/droppy/crazy rides goes, so we weren’t too disappointed about not getting to go on the Wild Thing together. We sure did enjoy seeing the pure joy on Bean’s face as she rode the race cars for the 1st/2nd/3rd time 😉
We added a new member to our family.
I didn’t think it would happen so fast, but when you find the right dog for you, you gotta make a move. Everest has blended into our family so seamlessly it’s like she was meant for us! OK, Kitty isn’t still so sure about her when Everest decides it’s “time to play”, but they’re getting along better and better every day.
And finally, Bean turned 5 and is starting at a new preschool next week.
We could have pushed her into Kindergarten early this year, but I will soak up every moment having a preschooler for one more year. She’s my only baby 🙁 With the start of school comes the end of summer.
We’ll miss you Summer 2016, Summer 2017 has a lot to live up to.
