I Gave Birth to the Next Beyonce

Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an overstatement. Last weekend was my baby girl’s first dance performance. Of course, I was a nervous wreck going into this:

“Please, Lord, let her actually go out on the floor without me holding her hand.”

“Please, Lord, keep her from bawling the whole time she’s out there.”

“Please, Lord, give her the courage to stay out there for the duration of her performance.”

…and on and on and on. I had so many fears that my separation anxiety-stricken child would get performance anxiety. Once I got past the initial separation and sent her on her way with the other little purple puffballs of cuteness, I knew she would be ok.

And then, “Your daughter ripped her fingernail.”

Moments before she was supposed to go on, Bean shows me her bloody pinkie with a cut clear down her fingernail. I tried to wipe it up with my saliva and a kleenex as best as I could (hey, she’s my kid) since there was no time for a bandaid. Luckily it wasn’t too badly cut.

I reassured her, “It will be OK. Just go out there and dance and have fun and Mommy will get you a bandaid after.”

Now, I thought, for sure she would be distracted by her bloody pinkie the whole time she was out there. Boy was I wrong…

She was a STAR! I couldn’t be more proud of my little purple puffball. Sure, I would have been proud if she just went out there without crying, but she danced almost the entire routine. That is quite the accomplishment for a 3 year old.

Well, this is goodbye, for a few days. We are taking our first family vacation EVER for our little pod and the first family vacation with my side in about 7 years. And, we’re taking Bean to the Magic Kingdom!!! To say that I’m excited would be an understatement. Of course, she’s excited too 😉 So, I’ll see you all on the flip side when I return after the arrival of 2015!
