Last Minute Mother’s or Father’s Day DIY Gift: Mini Photo Calendar
I’m sure you’ve been in a similar predicament.
Mother’s or Father’s Day is in just a few days, and you’ve got nothing.
Luckily, I’ve got a quick and relatively easy DIY last minute gift idea in my back pocket for you.
I spotted these mini wood calendars on Pinterest about a month ago. Loved the look, did not necessarily love the price tag.
Plus, I thought to myself, “I can totally put together something like that in Photoshop!”
So I did. And I’m going to show you how you can, too!
You will need Photoshop and general Photoshop knowledge to make this free calendar.
Last Minute Mother’s or Father’s Day Mini Photo Calendar Gift
MATERIALS NEEDED:
- White Cardstock
- Tacky Glue
- Mini Photo Calendar Templates
- Paper Board (I used a piece I cut out from a box of fruit snacks!)
- Optional: Mini Easel (found this one in the Target dollar spot!)
TOOLS NEEDED:
- Computer
- Printer
- Scissors
- Pen
- Paper Trimmer (you could just use a scissors but this makes it easier)
- 4- Mini Binder Clips
Step One: Print out your mini photo calendar
Using my mini photo calendar template, make your monthly calendars.
I made the months and dates editable in Photoshop so that no matter what month or year you make this gift, you can change the dates to work for you!
PS… you’ll need Bebas Neue and Quicksand (bold) fonts installed in order to edit the document.
Once you have each month saved as a JPEG, use my standard 8.5″ x 11″ template to insert your JPEGs and print them out with cut lines. You’ll need to create two of these for all 12 months.
This step will take the longest, but it’s so worth it!
Step Two: Cut out the calendars
Using your paper trimmer, cut along the lines.
If like me, you’re a perfectionist, you can use a scissors to perfect the edges.
Step Three: Cut out the back piece for your mini calendar
Take your paper board and trace around one of the mini calendar pieces.
Cut out with a scissors. This will help keep the calendar sturdy.
Step Four: Arrange the months of your mini photo calendar
Place your calendars in order with the paper board on back. I was making this for Father’s Day, so I started with July.
Line up the edges and secure with the mini binder clips on either end.
Step Five: Assemble your mini photo calendar
Place a nice, thick line of tacky glue along the top edge.
Once you’ve got the glue in place, put 2 more mini binder clips on the top edge. This will keep the pieces of the calendar nice and tight while the tacky glue dries.
Let the tacky glue dry for 1-2 hours before removing the mini binder clips. Once dry, place the calendar on the easel and you’re done!
After making this last minute gift for my husband for Father’s Day, I am totally using it again for many more gifts to come!
As long as you have some basic Photoshop knowledge (can edit text and know how to use a clipping mask), you can easily make this for yourself as well.

This is a great project. I think I’ll make one for myself. It’s such a pain to have to dig through my calendar when I just need to know the date quickly.
omgosh how cute is that and i love the size too – many of the ones you order online are huge so to be able to make a mini one yourself is fab!
This is too cute! I love making things myself and this is surely one which I will try!
Aww… This is such an adorable idea!!! So cute!
Hey this is so cute. I wanna make it for my fiance. The printable I downloaded in pdf is just a blank template. Can you lemme know where do I download the template?
There should be 2 links in the download. 1 is a template to place each of the calendars for printing, the other is a photoshop template where you can edit and pick your photo/the month/etc. Does that make sense?
This is so cute! My friend gave me something similar to this one but with a tiny painting. Love this idea!
That is sooo cute! I bet your husband will LOVE it. Happy Father’s Day!
Omg, that is adorable! Thanks for the tips
Omg this is so cute! I’ve been saying I need to get a little mini desk calendar, and now I can make my own!
