Mini Home Tour: Master Bedroom Decor

You know what they say, “If you wait until you’re ready, you’ll never do it.” Or something like that.

We’ve been in our “new” house (otherwise known as the Denver House) for a little over a year and I have yet to show off much, if any, of the hard work we’ve done making our house a home. I already feel more settled and at home living in this house for the past year than I ever did living in our old home for 5 years.

One room that I have been carefully putting together piece by piece to create the perfect oasis is our master bedroom. I wanted to create a bedroom that resembled a luxury hotel room. I love how minimal hotel rooms are. I love the selective decor and cohesive color scheme. I also love the massive amount of pillows and bedding.

The birch tree art hanging over our bed was the inspiration for the color scheme: relaxing aquas with pops of silver and gold. You might remember these bedside lamps looking a little different in our old bedroom. They’ve served their purpose, but I already have 2 bigger lamps awaiting a fresh coat of spray paint in our garage.

For some reason, my eye has been really drawn to shades of blue with our new home decor. I knew I wanted a tufted bedspread and after some careful searching, I found a reasonably priced set online that I fell in love with.

I wanted an obscene amount of pillows on the bed (there can never be too many pillows in my opinion) and this  Glaze Sequin Robin’s Egg Blue Decorative Pillow from Annie Selke is the perfect amount of soft glam for our serene bedroom decor. I must be making up for lost time growing up in a bunk bed with just one head pillow.

We already had some great pieces of furniture that I had redone for our old master bedroom that fit very well in our new one. I prefer more than just lamps on bedside tables. I feel like there needs to be a little something extra. I’m a succulent collector, but I knew real succulents would not survive in our Minnesotan bedroom with not enough sun year round. Luckily faux plants have come a long way and I was able to find some incredibly realistic (in my opinion) faux succulents to “plant” in this Annie Selke Matte Cement Cube.

There are other times when I want to snuggle in bed during the day (maybe for a midday nap?) after the bed is made. and this wool blanket is perfect for that.
