Thrift Store Halloween Decor: Ceramic Pumpkin Makeover
There are a couple items that are hard for me to pass up whenever I see them at the thrift store: brass table lamps, ironically tacky mugs, and holiday decor. In this instance, thrift store Halloween decor.
I found some awesome Halloween picks at the thrift store last year and they have sadly sat gathering dust on my storage shelf in my blogging office all year long… until now!
This was such an easy makeover it almost seems pointless making a tutorial for it. Just in case you spot a ceramic pumpkin light on your next thrift store trip and are second-guessing taking it home with you, here’s how easy it is to give it a face lift.
Thrift Store Halloween Decor: Ceramic Pumpkin Makeover
SUPPLIES
- Battery-operated fairy lights
- Ceramic pumpkin with opening
- Spray paint
STEP ONE
Make sure your ceramic pumpkin is free of dust, dirt, and other debris. Disinfecting wipes are great for this, quick and easy!
STEP TWO
Give the pumpkin a few light coats of spray paint, letting them dry well in between. It only took me 2 coats to get everything sufficiently covered, that’s why this is my fav spray paint!
STEP THREE
After the spray paint dries completely, insert the fairy lights into the pumpkin. I had bought a few boxes of these fairy lights during the super duper 70% off Christmas clearance sale at Target last winter.
That’s it! The most difficult part of this whole makeover was finding the patience to let the paint dry before I could put the lights in it.
