Vlog: Confession, I’m not a popular girl.

First of all, you go Brin. Thank you for your honesty with this post, you inspired me to finally throw this out there. It’s been in the back of my mind for some time now but you motivated me to just do it.

Here it is. My slight rant about the “popular girls” of blogging.
It’s sad but true, popularity follows you everywhere in life. Including blogging.

  1. Omg! FIrst, when you cut to the “I'm not a Popular Girl” scene, I danced. And the part that had me gut-bust laugh was the “ugly bubble necklaces” ( i have said the same thing….so ugly to me, but oh well.)

Love this blog post b/c you were raw and real, even with baby because I can see that being me if I vlogged.

I have also noticed the cliques….I was sort of popular in school only becasue I was did the high school news in the morning and about 5,000 students saw me. But I understand where you are coming from…when I first started blogging I was trying to fit the mold, but then It was so boring, and I just started to be the sometimes “ghetto” me.

Anywho before i write a post on your blog, I love this and your honesty!

  2. This post has been right along the lines of a very heated discussion I have been having with other blog friends, as well as my friends who have no idea what blogging is about. I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE. I totally have been snubbed by these ladies, and you are right…there is no REAL content on their blogs at all. I have a few more snarky things to say…but we will leave that perhaps in emails between us. Also, I know I was supposed to get back to you about the GFC collective and I am ready for you to send me that invoice whenever you are. You are a true inspiration!

  3. I seriously LOVE this vlog. I have a GOMI thread about me, but those girls were right and I think my blog is better because they called me out on my annoying habits. I have even thanked them for it, because I am thankful. Although some of their tactics aren't always nice, it is important that one reads between the lines, because they do have valid points.

I have been flying by my own kite lately jumping around reading whatever, writing whatever and it is amazing.

Okay, this post is a whole bunch of ramble jamble, so I am going to stop before I look nuts. Keep rocking sister.

  4. Love this! That inner-circle is totally counter productive to the world of blogging! We are here to share our thoughts and meet awesome people! Love, love, love!

  5. Thanks for sharing 😉 I'm all about the blogging “conference” where there are no speakers and it's everyone's invited with food wine and on a beach… We're going to make that happen!

  6. HA! I laughed throughout this vlog– but not at you, WITH YOU! (and your little girl made me giggle too… she's adorable). I haven't ever been a popular kid and I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I were. High Five from another unpopular blogger-girl.

I also do not own a bubble necklace.

  7. Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I can't wait until those darn things go away (bubble necklaces, that is) And you stay your sometimes “ghetto” self! It's like one of my favorite quotes says, “Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.”

  8. I have been secretly wishing one would get started about me just so I could have a reality check lol I guess that's a good thing there isn't yet? I think random is awesome! Too much stability is boring. I have to remind myself of that sometimes.

  9. I used to want to go to a blogging conference, but the longer I blog the more I am thinking, eeeh, not so much! I'm not a “popular” blogger. Actually, I've never been popular. Although, I will say I do own several bubble necklaces…but only because I made them and the necklaces sell. I'm a broke biotch! 🙂

  10. I loved this! I have lately become intimidated by the”popular” bloggers, though my blog doesn't have a ton of followers, they almost make me feel that i'm not as good as they are. so for someone to say i'm good like you are makes me so happy! I feel like all their posts are the same and they hold no real meaning. i love reading about people's lives and even then their posts seem so empty. Anyway's enough rambling, but I loved this and the fact that your good with being completely honest!

  11. I love how you're trying to vlog with your daughter talking and walking around…so cute! That's real life for you. I've definitely felt like there's this club that I'm not a part of and like some bloggers think they're “the poo” (as my friend likes to say). Some people just don't seem approachable and that's not what blogging should be like. Thanks for being so openly honest.

  12. I didn't know being so honest was going to provoke so many people to come out with this confesion. I EFFING LOVE IT! AH! It just reaffirms the fact that I am NOT crazy!

  13. You go girl. You just gained a new follower here!!! Umm yeah and get off my internet.. that's how I discovered one of the blogs I had read for YEARS was stealing ideas and raping small indie businesses on ads. 14. Although I admire a lot of big bloggers I try to do my own thing and be myself. When I first started blogging I had two of my favorite bloggers reach out to me and really they were wonderful. THAT Is how blogging should be. We are a community of like minds and we should be raising eachother up. I don't consider my blog to be big or popular, but I do love it when my readers reach out to me and I can actually talk to them and help them where I can. I hope that that never changes, even if I do become successful.

  15. This is a great post! I am a new to the blog world and am trying to find my way around. It's refreshing to find a blog that is genuine. I joined the blog world because I saw a sense of community, it's nice to know that there is people out there that want to keep that real, and not in a clique.

  16. Awesome Vlog and sorry I missed this, but totally enjoyed. By the way, I was never popular either and still not (so we can be unpopular together!!).

  17. Read your post, read Brin's post, scanned Twitter, then watched your vlog and I love it all. I must have missed the whole #Blissdom thing because I've kind of been avoiding twitter lately due to some of the clique-y blog bitches. You pretty much took the words right out of my mouth though. And I love all of the little “outtakes” on your vid because that's literally what it's like trying to vlog w/ little ones! So cute.

I love GOMI because I secretly have this fear of ending up on there somehow, but then I realize I'm not even “cool” enough for that haha

  18. This is the most randomly AWESOME vlog ever. It kinda made my day. “Puppy!” Haha! Amen sister… I'll slap you if you become one of “them” only if you promise to slap me in return, deal?

  19. I love this! I LOVE how you mentioned the bubble necklace – and I really love how you pointed out the cliques. I was kinda surprised when I found out the groups of bloggers – kinda through me for a loop :). Thanks for being yourself :).

  20. Okay…you are now on my top favorite bloggers list haha! LOVE this! And I went to that site and I'm DYING lol. Thank you for being REAL, it's much appreciated in this blogland of ours. Refreshing.
